Since 1987 NEFEA has been known throughout the North East as a premier supplier and service center for emergency apparatus and general fire equipment. We were brought in to update an out of date website design and increase SEO.

WCES has been working with NEFEA for decades. It was time to rebuild our old work. This website was a rebuild from a very old custom built asp.net website built prior to smartphones, to get them into a new mobile responsive WordPress website. This was a CMS platform upgrade, update an out of date website design, make it mobile friendly, and increase search engine visibility type of job.

This project required several database imports and exports, reorganizing their store category structure, a manual load of all products by hand from manufacturer websites, as well as sorting through tables and improperly sized images from multiple website administrators who had worked on the site over the years. We also wrote new content, organized the website in a completely different layout, and threw in a free logo redesign.

PennWell Fire Group Product Center

The Firefighting & Rescue Product Center is a niche directory from PennWell Fire Group with a mission to specifically highlight the newest and best fire service and EMS products available on the market today. The task we had at hand was to combine two pre-existing websites into one easy to use modern looking site design. We had one outdated product directory (Product Center) and the other was a business directory (Buyer’s Guide) showcasing manufacturer listings.

Adding to the complexity we had data merges, image load with varying product dimensions, category restructuring, user account flow, custom reporting section, and visual redesign. Simply stated – we had a large task at hand to reengineer how the information was both loaded and maintained on the backend and displayed to visitors. The most important accomplishments we achieved was ease of navigation for logged in users and website administrators with an easy to control member management system. Now our visitors can easily find apparatus, fire equipment, and fire products for every use.

Smeal

WCES has a long history and relationship with Smeal having developed a few of their past websites. This time around we needed to develop a new mobile responsive WordPress website that would be easier for them to manage. Along with their desire to have huge pictures of their fire trucks, they also wanted their site to be functional for website visitors on any device.

We developed a “New Deliveries” section with sorting and filtering to allow users to narrow down the types of trucks they are interested in.
The Dealer Directory is a custom section with a nice SVG map where users can narrow down by Country / State. Once users select their desired Dealer they have the option to save their contact information for easy access in a pull-out tab right on the left side of the screen, no matter what page they are on.
Full-screen photos with swipe ability on tablets and phones provide a large truck display.

Groves Incorporated began with the glass and mirror industry. After discovering critical storage needs facing the stone and glass industries, Groves Incorporated devoted its resources to solving these problems. WCES was brought in to develop three separate websites each aimed at a different target audience for their vast array of products. This website serves multiple different industries focused on finding very specific products that are hard to find online.

FSTI

WCES had a great task at hand to accomplish the mission for FSTI’s mobile responsive website rebuild. This was not our first rodeo. We’ve been involved with FSTI and had created their previous website on a completely custom built CMS as well. FSTI was in need of an update and wanted easier access to make edits to the website and add content. In addition, our project scope included combining multiple different other blog style websites into one website where authors could contribute right on the website. We have many different bells and whistles on this site to create a content portal for subscribers, authors, and also promote the mission of FSTI and their sponsors.

Ready Rack

Ready Rack manufactures and distributes heavy duty racks, storage, and accessory products for firefighters and first responders. With a large varying amount of products, they needed to be able to manage them on the fly, with the plan to grow their online catalog over time. We accomplished this with a WordPress driven website with WooCommerce in “catalog mode”. With their custom design, it’s amazing how much their first impression online has improved.

Ladder Tower Co.

WCES worked with Ladder Tower Co., a Smeal owned company, to create a simple but functional website to display their inventory of fire trucks available through their dealership network. A simple minimalist design was preferred, but company branding needed to be preserved. We were able to accomplish that through the use of the slant from the logo, and we let their products be the star. The website needed to also be mobile friendly and easy to update. Here’s what we delivered.
